Children's Parade - July 19th

You cannot miss this fun time at the Salem Art Fair!  This is one of my favorite things of the summer... fun for all ages from babies to teens!  Invite a friend!

Salem Art Fair - Children's Parade
Friday, July 19th
9:30am
Bush Park

Meet at the corner of High St SE & Lefelle St SE.

Your best bet for parking is to find a side street between South Salem High School and Bush Park.  I have found there are plenty of options if I come a little early and plan to walk a couple blocks with my kids.

For this event, I am going to wear a red hat and I am planning to bring some red balloons.  If you want to dress in red (or your kids in red), it will make our group easier to spot!
Even though it's called a parade, it's just a fun (and usually noisy) walk together -- people bring their kids in strollers, wagons, riding bikes, or walking is great too!  It's very informal and some people are dressed up for fun while others just wear casual summer clothes.

Be prepared - there's usually candy and noisemakers, costumes, a clown.  If this is overwhelming for your kiddo(s) you can always hang back and stay clear of the noise.  :)

The walk goes down High Street, turns on Bush street near the rose garden and to the entrance of the Salem Art Fair (free admission).  The rest of the weekend there is a charge but the children's parade allows you to come free for the day!

The walk keeps going past the "Crooked House Playground" and through Bush Park.

The parade ends at the Kids Court -- they provide snack & water for all parade participants!  There are places to sit and watch entertainment at the Kids Court.

You can stay as long as you want and enjoy music, theater performances for kids, food, artwork, & plant sales (check the Salem Art Fair website for more details/schedule:  http://salemart.org/?page_id=9005 )
There are kids activities/crafts which range from $1 to $5 each.  I've usually just picked one or two and then take my kids to the playground for a while before heading home.  :)

Please don't be shy if you want to attend but you have questions about what to expect.  I look forward to it and hope you can come!
Let me know if you might be there..... we can exchange phone numbers too, so we can find each other at the park!!
